A plan to build 24 homes on green space has been criticised by villagers.

Bromford Housing Association wants to build more homes in Leigh Sinton near Malvern and has put forward proposals again to build affordable housing as an extension of one of its existing sites in the village.

The returning plan has faced opposition from villagers who say the area would not be able to cope with more housing.

One objector in the village’s Haywood Drive said: “I think adding more houses close to us will cause a lot more accidents.

“At the moment it’s such a lovely quiet place adding more houses will get rid of this and many people will feel unhappy as it will cause it to be such a busy place.

“There are loads of families around this area with little children and at the moment it’s a safe and happy place for them to play

“If it gets any bigger and more houses are added it will become unsuitable.”

Another objector said: “We feel that by adding more houses to the area is a recipe for accidents. As it stands the area is lovely and quiet and well maintained.

“We’ve had to wait patiently for work to be finished and now it has finally been completed its going to be a lovely and lovely for family to bring their children up and be able to enjoy the area.”

Bromford said the entry-level homes will be designed for first-time buyers and will be a mix of rented and shared ownership.

The housing association has already built 35 homes on land off Hereford Road but only after a government inspector overturned Malvern Hills District Council’s rejection in 2014.

The council has already rejected two plans to build on the land off Hereford Road in Leigh Sinton – one of which was for 32 homes and the other for 18 homes.

Bromford again appealed to the government’s planning inspector to overturn the planning committee’s decision on the 32-home plan but was unsuccessful and ruled in favour of councillors.

The plans can be viewed via the planning section of Malvern Hills District Council website.

The application number is 21/01153/FUL.
