Candidates revealed for Worcester election

The candidates for next month’s council election in Worcester have been revealed.

A total of 14 seats are up for grabs in 13 wards across the city with the winners earning the right to sit on Worcester City Council.

It’s a seven-candidate race in the Bedwardine ward with Shafaz Ditta standing for the Conservatives and Sue Smith standing for Labour against the Greens’ Katie Collier and John Ondreasz for the Lib Dems.

Max Windsor-Peplow will be standing for Reform UK and Eloise Davies will be representing the Trade Union and Socialist Coalition.

Four candidates will be fighting it out to be one of the new faces representing the Battenhall ward with Tom Piotrowski standing for the Greens, Peter Rodford representing the Conservatives, Graham Taylor standing for Labour and the Lib Dems’ Pyers Symon also battling it out for a place on the city council.

Two seats in the Nunnery ward will be up for grabs following the resignation of Jim Carver earlier this year.

Pat Agar will be hoping to be re-elected in the ward for Labour alongside Basharat Ali with Barbara Mitra and Nicola Silvester standing for the Greens and Adele Rimell and Tomasz Wisniewski representing the Conservatives.

Mark Fenton will be standing for the Liberal Democrats in Nunnery and David Carney will be standing as an independent.

Mohammed Altaf is seeking re-election in the Gorse Hill ward and will be battling it out with Labour’s Edward Kimberley, Heather McNeillis for the Greens and Alison Morgan for the Lib Dems.

The battle in the city’s Cathedral ward will involve Raffi Ali for the Conservatives and Jon Bodenham for the Green Party alongside Labour’s Jabba Riaz, Jessie Venegas for the Lib Dems and Archie Harrison for the Trade Union and Socialist Coalition.

Mel Allcott is seeking re-election in Claines for the Liberal Democrats and will be battling Labour’s Tom Henri, Louie Lynch for the Conservatives and Steve Dent for the Greens.

The city’s Rainbow Hill ward will see one of four candidates elected with Parveen Parveen Akhtar for the Conservatives, Labour’s Zoe Cookson, Lib Dem Simon Cottingham and Nick Weeks for the Greens fighting it out.

In St John’s, Matt Lamb is hoping to be re-elected for Labour and will be against Tor Pingree for the Greens, Peter Jackson for the Lib Dems, Laszlo Meszaros for the Conservatives and Mark Davies for the Trade Union and Socialist Coalition.

The battle in St Peter’s will see Steve Cockeram for the Greens fight it out against Labour’s Chris Giles, Paul Hickling for Reform UK, Anja Potze for the Conservatives and Robert Renshaw for the Liberal Democrats.

In Warndon Parish North, Stephen Hodgson is seeking re-election for the Conservatives and will be against the Greens’ Emily Bond, Ian Craigan for Labour and the Lib Dems’ Sarah Murray.

In the neighbouring Warndon Parish South, Labour’s Ruth Coates will be up against the Conservatives’ Andy Roberts, Andrew Cross for the Greens and John Rudge for the Lib Dems.

The battle in the Warndon ward will see Sue Avery for the Greens battle it out against Susan Carpenter for the Lib Dems, Jill Desayrah for Labour and Chris Rimell for the Conservatives.
