Kate, Princess of Wales, to attend Remembrance events - but doubt over whether Queen Camilla will join

The Princess of Wales is to attend two Remembrance events this weekend, it has been announced.

Buckingham Palace said Kate would attend both the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph and the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday.

Officials also said the Queen's appearance at the events would depend on medical advice nearer the time, with the royal unwell with a chest infection.

Camilla, 77, was forced to pull out of engagements earlier this week.

At the time, a spokesperson said she "very much" hoped to recover in time for the Remembrance events.

Doctors advised the royal to take a short period of rest, but further details of her condition were not made public.

The announcement comes after Prince William described the past year as "brutal" and "probably... the hardest year in my life" after his father and wife were diagnosed with cancer.

Last month the Princess of Wales made her first public appearance since ending cancer treatment when she joined her husband on a royal visit to Southport.

In a video released in September, Kate said she had finished chemotherapy and was "looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months".

However, she added her focus was "doing what I can to stay cancer free".

The King, who recently completed his first long-haul overseas trip since his own cancer diagnosis, will lay a wreath of poppies at the base of the Cenotaph during Sunday's ceremony.

Dignitaries including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and leader of the opposition Kemi Badenoch are also expected to attend.

The event will include a parade of veterans along Whitehall and a national two-minute silence at 11am.
