Four die in hospital in a week from Covid

Four people died from coronavirus in Worcestershire’s hospitals according to the latest week of data available.

The death of two people from Bromsgrove, one from Worcester and another person from Wychavon happened in the week up to July 23.

According to the latest figures, the most recent deaths mean six people have died in the last three weeks in Worcestershire’s hospitals which follows on from the previous month where no hospital deaths were recorded in the county.

The latest announcement means there have been at least 1,365 deaths from Covid across ‘all settings’ in Worcestershire which includes hospices and care homes during the pandemic.

Of those deaths, 876 have taken place in hospital.

Nobody in the county died from Covid in a care home, hospice, communal establishment or elsewhere.

A total of 204 deaths were registered in Worcester compared to 278 deaths in both Wychavon, which includes Evesham, Pershore and Droitwich, and 277 deaths in Wyre Forest.

According to the figures, 269 people have died in Bromsgrove, 193 people have died from Covid in Redditch and 144 people have died from the virus in Malvern Hills.

Almost 86 per cent of people in Worcestershire have now receive at least one dose of a Covid vaccine.

Public Health England said just over 73 per cent of people in the county have now been vaccinated against coronavirus having received both jabs.

Figures show more than 75 per cent of people across Wychavon have now been vaccinated and almost 87 per cent of people have received their first jab.

As many as 66 per cent of people in Worcester have now been vaccinated and 82 per cent of people have received at least one jab.
