Works to make improvements to Evesham town centre are now complete.
The improvements have taken place on Port Street and at the Waterside/Port Street Junction, as part of Worcestershire County Council's commitment to enhancing town centres across the county.
The works included repaving the footways on Port Street, the reconfiguration of the area outside the former Talbot Pub, updating traffic signals at the Waterside/Port Street Junction, a new controlled pedestrian crossing across Waterside, the upgrade of traffic signals on Port Street and enhanced streetlighting.
Councillor Alan Amos, Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways and Transport, said: "The Town Centre Improvement Programme has transformed a number of areas across the county in recent years, and this is another example of the success of these works.
"These improvements have made a huge difference to the area for both people visiting and the local businesses."
The works have allowed some of the local businesses an opportunity to carry out some external improvements to their store fronts, and Creative Design and Print Solutions were one of those.
Mike Taylor from Creative Design and Print Solutions, said: "When I first learned of the plans to undertake major road works and enhancements in Port Street, I was filled with dread at the thought of the disruption it would cause. Fortunately, my fears were unfounded.
"Throughout the process, all of those involved with the work were courteous and helpful and went out of their way to assist both the owners of the premises and the pedestrians using the street. It also enabled many of the owners to undertake their own repairs and enhancements to their offices and shop fronts without the problem of traffic. In particular, the Project Manager for the works, took the time to contact and keep us informed of timescales and opportunities to make use of the various traffic flows, so we were able to scaffold our premises without the need to arrange our own traffic control.
"Now that the project is complete and we can see the results, I would like to thank all concerned for the massive improvements to Port Street."
The works were carried out as part of the Council's Town Centre Improvement Programme, which also includes recent improvements made on Pump Street in Worcester, High Street in Stourport and Market Place in Redditch.
