Works on three schemes to make improvements along the A38 corridor in Bromsgrove are progressing well.

These Phase 2 works are being delivered by Worcestershire County Council, as part of the wider A38 Bromsgrove Route Enhancement Programme (A38 BREP).

The improvements will enhance the cycling and walking network in and around the town, and link in with other County Council schemes.

The three schemes will see the following improvements made:
A new Toucan Crossing created on the A448 Stratford Road, adjacent to Blackwood Road and Fordhouse Road.
A segregated footway/cycleway between Harvington Road and Charford Road.
An upgrade to the northern footpath on Charford Road between the A38 and South Bromsgrove School.

Councillor Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways and Transport said:  "The Phase 2 schemes will add to the improvements that we've already made in Bromsgrove.

We have brought these schemes forward ahead of the wider A38 Bromsgrove Route Enhancement Programme, to ensure that we continue the momentum in reducing congestion and providing high quality walking and cycling routes."

Works on the three schemes are being funded by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and are set for completion in the summer.

Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said:  "This work on the A38 corridor is vital to helping improve active travel across the county, providing congestion easing benefits for businesses, commuters and visitors alike.

I am pleased that work is progressing well and look forward to seeing the benefits this programme brings to the popular transport route later this year."

The Phase 2 works come after the Phase 1 works to improve M5, J4, M42 J1 and Barley Mow Lane.

They will be followed by A38 BREP Phase 3 which has been included in a priority list of schemes to be allocated government funding by Sub-national Transport Body Midlands Connect.
