£3.9million for vulnerable people in Worcestershire this winter

Vulnerable households struggling with fuel bills in Worcestershire will be able to access help through a new fund.

Following a recent government announcement, a new Household Support Fund has been made available to those most in need this winter and through until the end of March 2022.

£3.9million has been allocated to support people in need in Worcestershire and will help support those who may struggle with their bills this winter.

Those eligible for support will be able to access assistance with food and other essentials through Here2Help, as well as access help with their energy bills through Act On Energy who are acting on behalf of Worcestershire County Council.

Councillor Matt Dormer, cabinet member with responsibility for communities at Worcestershire County Council said, "This funding will make a real difference to those in our community who are in need of extra support this winter.

"As energy bills are rising, it can be a worrying time for families that may already be struggling. The Household Support Fund will help alleviate some of those worries and support vulnerable people this winter time."

A portion of the £3.9million has also been ringfenced to support those eligible for free school meals. This will be coordinated through schools and those children receiving free school meals will receive equivalent support during the school holidays.
