Veolia, in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council, announces 17 grant awards to local community groups.
Veolia, the UK’s leading waste and resource management company, is providing Envirogrant funding as part of its partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council to support projects that benefit the environment or community.
The Wrockwardine Parish Allotment Society has been awarded a grant to link in with local schools to share knowledge and help children to grow food. Meanwhile the Madeley Community Orchard will be creating a space for reflection, to promote better wellbeing. A further 15 inspiring projects are being supported including an educational allotment, recycled benches and a woodwork project.
Steve Mitchell, Regional Director for Veolia said: “EnviroGrant is a hugely beneficial part of the Added Value element of our contract with Telford & Wrekin Council and directs funds straight into the local community. Since 2014, Veolia has given more than £200,000 to benefit local community projects and initiatives through the Added Value scheme. It’s great to be able to support so many local groups delivering ecological transformation on the ground.”
Councillor Lee Carter (Labour), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood, Commercial Services and Regeneration, said: “EnviroGrant is a great example of how we work with our partners to create a better borough. These grants give local people the opportunity to make a real difference in their community and neighbourhood. I’m pleased to see such a wide range of groups and projects successfully applying for funding this year.”

- Hartshorne Court Social Fund for a gazebo
- Telford and Wrekin CVS for a warm hub at the Living Room, Telford
- Nova United Junior Football Clubfor winter training
- St Peter's Church Places of Welcome, Priorslee & St Georges
- Wrockwardine Parish Allotment Society for Let’s See How It Grows
- Wrekin Special Swimming Club
- Hollinswood and Randlay Parish Council for an all-ability allotment plot
- Waters Upton Parish Council for recycled benches for village green
- Newdale primary school for an allotment for sustainable education and health
- Ironbridge WW2 Weekend
- Madeley Scout and Guide Hut Support Committee for an outside garden area
- Sir Alexander Fleming Primary School for a wildlife window
- Ketley Coffee Club
- Stay for a social gardening & woodwork project
- Challenging Perceptions for a sensory room
- Madeley Community Orchard for a reflection space
- Hadley and District Male Voice Choir for gardening work to a roundabout
