Shropshire has some of the worst performing railway stations in the country, it has been revealed.
According to On Time Trains, all but one of the 18 stations in the county were ranked 2,000 or lower out of 2,637.
Ludlow fared the worst, being the ninth worst performing station in the country, giving it a performance score of 56%.
According to the data, only 25% of the 4,117 services were on time during the last 12 weeks, with the same percentage of services being at least 10 minutes late.
Nearby Craven Arms and Church Stretton stations were also underperforming, coming out 2,617th and 2,598th respectively. A total of 11% of services were cancelled at both stations.
Other stations that fared badly were Whitchurch and Gobowen, who were 2,573rd and 2,567th respectively. According to the data, only 23% of services were on time at both stations during the past 12 weeks.
The busiest station in Shropshire is Shrewsbury, with there being 5,517 exits per day. However, when On Time Trains ranked it out of 15,146 services, it came 2,325th with only 44% being on time.
A Transport for Wales spokesperson said: “We know that when trains are delayed or cancelled this can cause significant inconvenience for customers and we would like to apologise for this.
“Whilst there have been several issues in the last few months, storms Darragh and Bert did have a huge impact on Wales and the western side of the UK, leaving lines blocked by trees, debris and flooding.
“Working with our partners in Network Rail we had multiple speed restrictions in place across the route which impacted performance within Shropshire and in some cases we cancelled trains in advance based on extreme weather predictions, particularly on the Heart of Wales line.
“Moving forward we continue to look at measures to improve performance and reliability for our customers both at a local and national level, with workshops set up to deliver this in partnership with Network Rail.”
