A list of main roads in Herefordshire to be resurfaced in the coming weeks has been revealed.
Herefordshire Council’s £2.38-million contract for the work with Tarmac Trading sidesteps the county’s main public realm maintenance contract with Balfour Beatty, which is due to come to an end in May next year.
The stretches of A-road on the list are:
- The A417 near Bodenham east of the junction with the A49, between March 31 and April 17;
- The A417 at Whitwick Manor between Newtown Cross and Burley Gate, from Apr 22 to May 7;
- The A438 between the Hereford Road roundabout in Ledbury, and Bush Pitch, between April 4 and 14;
- The A465 / A4103 junction at Lugg Bridge, between March 31 and April 9;
- The A4103 by Whitestone business park, also between March 31 and April 9.
The B-road works are:
- The B4221 by the M50 bridge between Gorsley and Upton Bishop, between March 17 and 20;
- The B4355 from The Rodd to the Welsh border south of Presteigne, between April 1 and 7;
- The B4216 south of the A417 Ledbury bypass, between Mar 4 and April 4;
- The B4214 at the Wellington Heath turning north of Ledbury, from April 22 to 28;
- The B4224 southeast of Fownhope, between April 14 and May 2.
The council said these roads had been prioritised “based on condition and need”.
The work is part of a £10-million package of road resurfacing during the current and next financial years approved by the council last April.
