A housing association which provides people in rural Shropshire with an affordable place to live is looking for a new chair of the board.
Sam Hine, who has worked with communities across the county for many years, will step down as chair of Shropshire Rural Housing Association when she completes her nine-year term on the board in September.
“As a small housing association, all our board members are volunteers,” ssaid Ms Hine.
“We all bring different experience and expertise and are committed to the need to provide good quality, affordable homes for rent in rural areas, to keep our rural settlements vibrant and sustainable.
“As my time as chair is coming to an end we are looking for someone that can pick up the mantle to help guide the development and implementation of our new strategic plan.
“The role of the chair is to support our first-class staff team, lead our dedicated board and committee members and ensure strong and robust governance is in place for the benefit of our tenants, those that live in Shropshire Rural homes now and in the future.
“It’s not a major time commitment, on average up to six to 10 hours a month depending on the schedule of meetings and priorities at the time, but even if the actual hours spent on Shropshire Rural business aren’t excessive I would say the commitment to the cause is full time.”
John Green, chief executive of Shropshire Rural, said he was keen to hear from people of all ages and backgrounds who may be interested in the role.
“Other than a passion for rural communities and housing, there are a wide range of qualities which would make a good chair,” he said.
“We are looking forward to hearing from anyone who may be interested. There is plenty of information and an application pack on our website which provides more background to the role,” said Mr Green
“If you are interested, please email me at john.green@shropshirerural.co.uk and I will be happy to discuss in more detail.”
