Herefordshire Council will once again be running a night-time service to tackle potentially excessive levels of noise experienced by residents.
The lighter and warmer evenings during the summer months see people hoping for good weather to enjoy evenings with friends and family, whether in their own outside space, local pub or licenced summer event.
The Council are asking people and businesses to consider and respect their neighbours while enjoying summer gatherings by keeping noise to a minimum to avoid causing distress to those living nearby.
Environmental Health Service Manager, Charles Yarnold, said: "We want everyone to have a brilliant summer and enjoy parties and gatherings with their friends and families. Unfortunately, each year a small number of events can cause real issues with excessive and prolonged noise at unacceptable hours which affect the quality of life for neighbouring residents. Simple steps such as informing neighbours of a planned party mean you can be contacted if any problems arise.
"Council officers will visit problem areas to investigate and where possible resolve issues on the night or follow up shortly afterwards. The service also carries out monitoring visits and responds to calls about commercial premises and licensed summer events, and with sufficient evidence can use legal powers to address problems if a more informal approach has not been successful."
The summer out of hours noise hotline will be open 9pm - 2am every Friday and Saturday evening (including Sunday bank holiday August), from July until the beginning of September.
