JustPark will be offering 30 minutes of free parking near several polling stations in Shropshire on General Election Day.

The initiative follows a survey of more than 2,100 drivers which found that more than a quarter (28 percent) were planning to drive to cast their vote, with cars being the second preferred mode of transport to the polls overall, after walking.

It also revealed that one in 10 people surveyed said not being able to find parking at the station was a concern, while an impractical polling station and bad weather were also cited as potential barriers to making it to the ballot box.

The 30 minutes of free parking being offered by JustPark is available all day on Thursday (July 4) to registered JustPark users who pre-book via the app.

Mary Corrie, managing director of JustPark, UK, said: “Here at JustPark, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to vote, but know that on the day it isn’t always that straightforward.

“By offering free parking on election day, we hope to make it easier for all voters, especially those with mobility issues or who are short on time, to find a place to park near their polling station.

“This is the second time we have offered this service, following its great success in the 2019 election, and we are confident it will help to get people to the polls once again.”
