Worcester City Council continues to investigate a technical issue with card payments from its pay and display machines.

Card payments are currently disabled, leaving the options of using the RingGo app or cash payments.

In a statement, Worcester City Council said: "We have now established that many customers have suffered from duplicate transactions, resulting in multiple payments wrongly being taken from their bank accounts."

"We would like to apologise to anyone affected and to assure customers that we are doing our utmost to resolve the issue as swiftly as possible."

"We are working closely with the card payment processor and card machine operator, to get to the bottom of this issue. Whilst the cause of the problem is not yet clear, the Council would like to assure customers that all incorrect payments will be refunded as soon as we are able."

"We have been assured that no further duplicate payments are being processed."
