The latest part of a giant plan which will see a further 950 homes built on the edge of the city has been revealed.

Major housing developers Taylor Wimpey and Redrow have put forward plans to build as many as 921 homes on land known as Earls Court Farm to the east of Dines Green in Worcester.

The joint housing plan forms part of an enormous scheme to build more than 2,300 homes to the east of Worcester.

Hallam Land Management has permission to build up to 965 homes on the land as well as more than five acres of employment space, a local centre with shops, offices, restaurants, pubs and takeaways, a GP surgery and care home, a primary school and a community hall.

Responsibility for building the homes will be shared between the two developers with Taylor Wimpey building up to 482 homes and Redrow building 439 homes.

The plans for the land north of Bromyard Road are the second largest housing allocation in the major county planning blueprint the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP).

Bloor Homes already permission to build 1,400 homes north of Oldbury Road in Worcester and will be built next to the northern tip of the Taylor Wimpey and Redrow site.

The homes will be accessed from Bromyard Road to the south with a new road running straight through the development connecting it to the Bloor Homes development to the north.

Redrow will be building a mix of 351 one-to-four bed homes, two-bed flats and 28 apartments as well as 88 affordable homes, bungalows and apartments.

Taylor Wimpey said it plans to build a mix of 385 two-to-four bed homes and 97 two-to-four bed affordable homes.

Taylor Wimpey and Redrow have submitted ‘reserved matters’ applications which shows details of the layout, scale and appearance of the homes as well as landscaping and other green infrastructure and, if approved by Malvern Hills District Council, will allow work on the development to start.
The developer already has permission to build the homes in principle but now needs the design and layout of the homes to be approved for work to progress.

Permission was finally granted in principle by Malvern Hills District Council in December 2019 following years of talks.

There are already huge plans in place to build thousands of homes around the eastern edge of Worcester that are currently under discussions or have been approved.

Bloor Homes submitted a similar ‘reserved matters’ application which will see 150 homes built on land known as Grove Farm off Bromyard Road earlier this month.

Worcester City Council approved a Bloor Homes plan for 175 homes on nearby land to the east of Oak View Way off Bromyard Road in September 2018.

The University of Worcester had its plans to build 120 homes on its University Park site off Bromyard Road approved by the city council last year ending its decade-long ambition to build a £100 million science, health and enterprise hub.
