Ludlow DAB - Broadcast With Us

Thankyou for your interest in Ludlow DAB multiplex.

Ludlow Digital Radio was awarded in January 2023 to give Ludlow and the surrounding areas a cost-effective digital radio transmission for any local media who wants to cover the area.

We can broadcast your radio station to 55,000 people in our coverage area.

In order to get on air with us you’ll need:

• A licence from Ofcom – either as a Community Radio Station (C-DSP) or a Commercial Radio Station (DSP).
• Music licences from PPL and PRS
• A good quality audio stream on the Internet.

Digital Radio allows you to broadcast flexibly at different bitrates and audio qualities. We charge based on how much bit rate you use and how long you sign a contract for.

C-DSP Capacity

This capacity is available holders of C-DSP (Community-Digital Service Provider) licences.

Total Services Available: 3 @ 36CUs (48kbit/s)

Qualifying Criteria: Hold a valid C-DSP licence for a service located within our coverage area.

Price: £100 per month

This capacity is available to small local radio broadcasters for audio services.

Total Services Available: Up to 4 @ 36CUs (48kbit/s)

Qualifying Criteria: 

• DSP licence holders must be based and operate primarily within the licence area, and provide the service.
• Turnover attributable to the service is less than £100'000 per year.

Price: £200 per month

General Capacity

This capacity is available to any broadcaster for audio and/or data services.

Qualifying Criteria: Any DSP licence holder

Price: £300 per month   

• Price is for standard stereo music capacity of 24CUs (32kbit/s, DAB+)
• Rates can be applied pro-rata for lower or high numbers of capacity units

More Information

Capacity is offered on a first come, first-served basis.

All services should be broadcast in DAB+. Exceptions will only be made where they are well- supported and unavoidable.

A carriage agreement will need to be entered between the parties before a service provider can be carried on the multiplex. Carriage agreements will be for a minimum term of 12 months from the Start Date, with provision to terminate after that period on not less than 3 months written notice.

Fees will be payable monthly in advance and will be subject to annual review.

Service providers will need to obtain all necessary statutory and music royalty licences.

These prices assume you will either push a compatible stream to our multiplexer or allow us to use your existing internet stream as a source. We can quote separately if you would like a dedicated contribution for best quality.
