More details have emerged of a planned new 450-home estate south of Ledbury.

Housebuilder Vistry Group says “at least 35 per cent” of the new homes would be classed as affordable, while all will meet the Future Homes Standard for sustainable design and construction and would have vehicle charging points.

The scheme would also feature a shop and community building and local shop, along with “significant areas of public open space and landscaping” including a hilltop park, according to a consultation it has now published online ( consultations.vistrygroup.co.uk/southledbury).

The site is earmarked for development in the county’s draft local plan, and lies next to another Vistry development off on Leadon Way known as The Hopfields.

Access to the new scheme will be off the A417 Ledbury Road to the east next to a proposed “green gateway” to the site, with this main road leading through to a potential future development to the west.

An accompanying masterplan shows a network of walking and cycle routes, along with three rainwater-storing ponds to the south.

Vistry is asking the public for their views on the above features of its proposed scheme, which can be submitted by email or by post until November 25.

This further planned extension to the town drew over 100 locals to a meeting when it was first announced in May, with most feeling it would only strain Ledbury’s infrastructure further.
